Our Mother Lodge
St. James Lodge No. 80
Brethren,
To be a Freemason is an honour—but with that honour comes a responsibility, especially to our Mother Lodge.
Our Lodge is more than just a meeting place; it is where we were initiated, where we first received the light of Masonry, and where we began our journey among Brothers. It is, in many ways, our Masonic home.
We therefore have a duty to support it—not only through our presence, but through our participation, our service, and our commitment. A Lodge cannot thrive on good intentions alone; it depends on the active engagement of its members. Each of us has a role to play, whether great or small.
For those who serve, or will one day serve, as Officers of the Lodge, that responsibility becomes even greater. To accept an office is to accept a trust. It calls for dedication, preparation, and a willingness to lead by example. It means learning our work, supporting the Worshipful Master, and ensuring that the Lodge continues to function with dignity, order, and purpose.
An Officer sets the tone for the Lodge. Through his conduct, his reliability, and his commitment, he encourages others to take part and strengthens the bonds of our Brotherhood. It is not the jewel of the office that gives it value, but the effort and sincerity with which the duties are carried out.
Brethren, whether on the sidelines or in an office, let us remember that our Mother Lodge depends on each of us. What we give to it—in time, in effort, and in spirit—ensures that it will continue to prosper for generations to come.
Fraternally
RW Bro. David Johnson
Worshipful Master
St. James Lodge No. 80
